Youth Coalition Update (Paul): |
Paul Meher/Kayla Avera-Shaw Report given by Bonnie: Youth Coalition currently working with Paul on an advertisement on the dangers of opioid use and counterfeit pills -this will be aired in June -August. Sponsored by HM AHEC. Prom Promise. |

Media Committee Update (Cassandra): |
Cassandra VanNostrand Fund Raiser for the Coalition- details to follow. Looking to place an ad in both the Recorder and the Leader Harold thanking retailers that passed the underage alcohol Retail Compliance, and asked for ID. |

Parent Engagement Committee (Paul): |
Paul Meher Report given by Bonnie Peck: looking to offer PAX Tools training to help parents teach self- regulation. Also, I would love to have opportunities to talk to parents about their powerful role in substance use prevention. Any opportunities for that, let me know. If you are a member of an organization and are looking for a speaker…I am available to talk about the coalition, the DFC Mission, and how community members can make a difference in youth substance use. |

Sustainability Committee: |
Bonnie Peck Back in February Gwen, Brenda and I met to discuss sustainability. We have to submit our plan on how to sustain the coalition at the end of year 5 with this August’s Progress Report. Geoff Peck offered to be on the committee as well. We could use 1 or 2 more people. Any volunteers? We would meet 2-3 times between now and August. |

Naloxone Boxes: |
Sabrina Herlick/Brenda Hansson Sabrina has been taking the lead with this project, but now we are breaking off into our county groups. Brenda will be buying the Narcan boxes for Fulton, Montgomery, and Hamilton Counties through RCORP Grant funds. We will start having smaller county focused group meetings in June. The plan is to have the boxes installed by August 31st. |

Drug Take Back Day: |
April 30, 2022, Gloversville Police/City Hall parking lot 1000-1400. Naloxone training and Deterra bags will also be available. Numbers were reviewed and are attached. Notable increase from last month. |

Marijuana Policy AD Hoc Work Group: |
Cannabis policies will align with Alcohol policies, following adult use locations, not near churches, schools. |

NEU Planning: |
Cassandra VanNostrand meeting is coming up on June 2nd. Bonnie Peck NEU Planning Committee: Met and decided to have 4 events. June 23rd at Elk Street Park July 28 at Family Counseling Center Parking Lot August 18 at Darling Field (bigger event) September 22 at McNab Elementary School. All will be from 3:30-6pm Re-doing Flier to be more like a booklet. Cassandra is working on it. Organizations who want to be in it and aren’t already should send info to Bonnie. If you have updated info also send. By June 10. Bag Stuffing for June event is June 17 at HFM Prevention Council. There will be 2 walking teams of 3-4 people per team. We would like to have the teams for each event decided prior to the event. Volunteers so far include Alicia and Sally from HFM Prev. Council, and Brenda Hansson from HM AHEC. Groups can table. Looking to have activities for youth of all ages and wish to promote the NEU to all in many ways. Fliers hung up in neighborhoods as well as via social media. Tobacco Free Event signage from ATFC? PAX Tools Training: |
PAX Tools is a collection of evidence based, trauma informed strategies for improving cooperation and self-regulation with youth. It is for any caring adults who interact with children such as parents, caregivers, professionals , and volunteers. I am a community educator for that program and plan to offer the training a few times. I will be doing the first workshop at DuBois Gardens with Lashawn on April 28th at 10am. I am also willing to implement the 2 hour workshop for any youth serving organization that would like it for their staff or volunteers. Reach out to me for more information. |

OD Mapping Update: |
Sally Baker From 1/1/22-5/19/22, there have been: Nationally 131,922 Suspected Overdoses 7,899 Suspected Fatal Overdoses 62,007 Narcan Used NYS- 8,075 Suspected Overdoses 913 Suspected Fatal Overdoses 5,177 Narcan Used Fulton Co. 34 Suspected Overdoses 5 Suspected Fatal Overdoses 28 Narcan Used Gloversville 27 Suspected Overdoses 2 Suspected Fatal Overdoses 24 Narcan Used In April, the numbers for Gloversville were 19 suspected OD’s, 1 Suspected fatal OD, and 16 where Narcan was used. |

Retail Compliance: |
Bonnie Peck 10 out of 11 retailers passed the compliance check. Only failure was Fulton Street Deli. They have failed each of the last three times. What can we do to assist them in improving their track record? |

Summer Events and Messaging: |
Reminder for summer events… we would love to encourage policies and messaging prohibiting tobacco, cannabis, and alcohol use. ATFC has sandwich board type signs that can be borrowed. |
