Kelsey Carpe- Cancer Prevention in Action Cancer Prevention in Action Fulton, Montgomery & Schenectady Counties – Promotions Coordinator CPiA is a program that seeks to prevent cancer by providing cancer prevention education, resources, practices and policies to the local communities we serve. We work with both public and private sector businesses/organizations and our services are FREE! Our program raises awareness about the importance of practicing sun safety and the dangers of indoor tanning. Help community partners to adopt and implement their own policies to aid in the prevention of skin cancer. Educate the public on the importance of the cancer prevention vaccine HPV. Work with employers to provide a paid time off benefit so employees can access life-saving cancer screenings. Recent work on sun safety policies for outdoor recreation and outdoor worksite at Royal Mountain Campground & Granny’s Ice Cream in Fulton County they have shade sails to increase shade and a sunscreen dispenser for the ice cream shop to take action against skin cancer. May is skin cancer awareness month. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the US, and is the most preventable cancer. Be sure to practice sun safety and avoid getting sunburns to lower your risk of skin cancer.
